PERSISTENCE

This work is based on an essential form—the cross—understood not as a religious symbol, but as a foundational structure: intersection, balance, and tension. A symbol that has transcended cultures and time.

The translucent volume appears fragmented and pierced by a network of metal rods and ebony thorns that support and contain it, while at the same time wounding it. The dark, dense ebony introduces the idea of limits, resistance, and contained pain, like a memory embedded in the material.

The form appears vulnerable, suspended within a precarious architecture that reveals the fragility of the systems we build to make sense of the world. The symbol does not impose itself: it resists.

In my research on the symbols that have accompanied the evolution of civilization, this piece suggests that the signs that have structured us are not static forms, but living bodies, subject to pressure, wear and tear, and constant reinterpretation.
