BIG WAVE HEAD

The sculpture entitled Cabeza Gran Onda (Big Wave Head) presents a play of forces between the ascending verticality of the neck and skull and the oblique development, along several axes, of the waves of hair, which describe a clear and enveloping continuity.

EMILIO VELILLA

Madrid, Spain, 1959

Emilio Velilla (b. 1959) trained at the Schools of Applied Arts in Madrid. From his early years, he has worked as an independent sculptor. His work has evolved from non-descriptive figuration—with occasional forays into abstraction—to a figuration that moves between explicit naturalism and a more austere style.

Throughout his career, he has held exhibitions in Belgium, Lebanon, Dubai, London, and Madrid, among other cities. His work forms part of private collections and he also has public works in Madrid and Ávila, among other locations.
